A representative for the Grammy winner confirmed in an exclusive statement to People that the hiatus will begin immediately after her current concert series concludes.

The representative added that the singer looks forward to finishing her touring commitments both healthily and happily before stepping away from the spotlight that has generated relentless attention. A source close to the singer emphasized that her performances require intense athleticism, noting that she executes a very physical show successfully night after night.

Withdrawal From West End Revival of Sunday in the Park with George

The decision to step back from public life has immediate consequences for Grande’s theatrical career. Production company Empire Street Productions confirmed that the singer has withdrawn from her scheduled West End debut in a new revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1984 musical.

Grande was slated to star opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey at the Barbican Centre in London next summer. In a statement released to the Press Association, Empire Street Productions acknowledged the announcement from Grande’s team.

“Following this evening’s announcement from Ariana Grande’s team, we can confirm that she has decided to step back from Sunday in the Park with George. We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support. We wish her nothing but the best. The production will open at the Barbican in summer 2027 as planned, and casting will be announced in due course.”
