The victims have been identified as Naveen Chandra Bhatt, 60, a retired Navy Captain, and his wife Dr. Shyamala Bhatt, 55, a practicing dentist. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. in Vignan Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the HAL Police Station.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), the accused, Rohan Chandra Bhatt, allegedly stabbed both parents with the intent to kill them. The couple sustained severe injuries and were transported to Manipal Hospital, where they were pronounced dead at approximately 8:15 a.m.
A murder case has been registered by HAL Police based on a complaint filed by Dr. Madhavi Nair, a resident of the same apartment complex and a physician at Manipal Hospital.
Police stated the exact motive for the killings remains under investigation, but a preliminary inquiry suggests an ongoing family dispute. The bodies have been moved to the Bowring Hospital mortuary.
The couple’s daughter, who lives in the United States, is traveling to Bengaluru. A post-mortem examination will be conducted upon her arrival. Investigators are continuing to question the accused and collect forensic evidence from the scene as neighbors express shock over the crime in the typically quiet residential complex.
