Bali police and immigration officials arrested a British citizen wanted on a red notice at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on March 28, 2026. Steven Lyons, 45, is accused of leading a large-scale transnational criminal organization involved in narcotics trafficking and money laundering in Spain and the United Kingdom.
Steven Lyons Arrested in Bali
The arrest took place at the International Arrivals Terminal of the airport, according to Bali Regional Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya. Lyons is an international fugitive sought by Spanish Police.
Senior Commissioner I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, Director of Criminal Investigation at the Bali Regional Police, stated the arrest was part of ‘Operation Armourum,’ a joint investigation by the Spanish Civil Guard’s Central Operative Unit and the Scottish Police.
Prior to Lyons’ arrest, European police apprehended 33 members of his syndicate in Scotland and 12 in Spain. The Abu Dhabi National Crime Agency (NCB) subsequently alerted authorities that Lyons was traveling to Indonesia.
“Based on intelligence information and international cooperation from both the police and immigration, we immediately put security on alert in the arrivals area upon SL’s arrival,” Muliawarman remarked.
Bugie Kurniawan, Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, confirmed Lyons arrived on Singapore Airlines flight SQ-938 from Singapore. The immigration system flagged him as the subject of an Interpol red notice, identifying him as a suspected leader of an international criminal organization involved in money laundering and managing fictitious companies.
Following his apprehension, Ngurah Rai Immigration handed Lyons over to airport police. He is currently detained at the Bali Regional Police Headquarters and will be flown to Spain.
