Mixon began her journey in 1965 as a housekeeper at the former Peoples Hospital, transitioning to Walker Baptist when it opened its doors in 1980. A recent celebration honored her dedication with a certificate, a plaque, and a dinner with friends and coworkers. From Housekeeping to Operations Manager: A Career Built on Dedication
Carolyn recalls starting her career at age 20, initially filling in for her cousin who was the hospital’s sole housekeeper. “My cousin was the only housekeeper at the time. I started out working part-time, and when she needed time off, I became a full-time employee,” she explained. This humble beginning blossomed into a remarkable career trajectory, fueled by a genuine desire to serve others.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mixon was recognized as a “Healthcare Hero” by a local magazine, a testament to her unwavering commitment during a time of unprecedented challenge. She has consistently expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work in healthcare, stating in 2020, “Serving within healthcare gives me great pleasure to be able to help every patient that enters the doors of Walker Baptist.”

“She does a phenomenal job training our new associates,” Henderson added. “Our team leads would definitely say she drives them hard, but most importantly, she is there for them.”
Beyond her professional life, Mixon is deeply involved in her church and known for her generosity, regularly donating to organizations like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. “If you call her on the phone, she’s going to donate something,” Henderson remarked, highlighting Mixon’s compassionate spirit.
Mixon attributes her longevity to her employer, Crothall, expressing her gratitude for the opportunities provided to her and her team. “Crothall is an amazing company and has been very good to me and the team. I think it’s an awesome company to work for,” she shared.
