CJP Delegation Meets JP Nadda to Present Demands Over National Exam Irregularities

The meeting between the CJP delegation and Union Health Minister JP Nadda marked the first formal communication between the government and the protest movement. According to records of the event, the discussion began at 11:50 a.m. after the government reached out to the protesters earlier in the morning. By 4:00 p.m., the delegation, which included CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, submitted a formal written memorandum.

Core Demands of the CJP Delegation

The memorandum presented to the government outlined three specific requirements related to the ongoing education system crisis and the treatment of activists. First, the party demanded the immediate release of social activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital, where he has been held since Delhi Police moved him from the protest site on the 21st day of his hunger strike. Second, the CJP called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Third, the party requested that the government provide a compensation of one crore rupees to the families of each candidate who reportedly died by suicide following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.

CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das stated that the party’s demands remain clear, noting that the paper leak has impacted the futures of millions of students. Following the meeting, JP Nadda utilized the social media platform X to describe the atmosphere of the talks as “cordial.” Nadda stated that the discussion involved an initial detailed oral conversation with the delegation before the written memorandum was submitted. He further appealed to the protesters to end their sit-in and cooperate with the administration to restore normalcy.

Protest Context and Security Environment

The protest at Jantar Mantar has persisted for 30 days, characterized by what organizers describe as a peaceful approach to highlighting failures in the education system. On Monday, the CJP organized a Sansad Chalo March toward Parliament. This movement occurred despite the Delhi Police declaring that no permission was granted for the march and enforcing Section 163 of the BNSS in the New Delhi district. Reports indicated that police and paramilitary personnel had previously used lathi-charges in an attempt to prevent the march.

Regarding the status of Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for over 21 days, his legal team confirmed his condition remains stable at the hospital. On Monday morning, Wangchuk asserted via social media that he would only break his fast if the Centre takes responsibility for recent failures in the education system or if political leaders provide assurance that the issue will be raised in Parliament.

As of the conclusion of the Monday meetings, the CJP maintained that they had not yet received any final assurance from the government regarding their specific demands. Saurav Das emphasized the party’s stance, stating, We have opened our hearts and said that we are willing to talk to them. There has been no clarity from their side as of now.
