At approximately 4 p.m., Adam Abo Sheriah received a phone call while working at the pharmacy. The voice on the other end shared heartbreaking news – Adam’s uncle’s residence in Gaza City had been hit by Israeli airstrikes. Inside the dwelling were Adam’s parents, his brother’s spouse, and their kids, seeking safety after their own homes were bombed.
As Adam grappled with the information, his thoughts were flooded with inquiries and worries. Despite the busy activity in the drugstore, he understood that he needed to take action. Leaving everything behind, he courageously ventured into the unfamiliar.
Adam began a journey filled with a rollercoaster of feelings. As he drove without direction, he tried every phone number he could remember, desperately hoping to reach his family in Gaza. But each call went unanswered, causing anxiety to consume him.

Calls for assistance were heard from under the debris, but the chances of being rescued appeared slim. Those trapped under the collapsed structure were eventually silenced. In the midst of this heartbreaking event, the deceased remains of Adam’s dear younger sibling, Ahmed, were found on the road. Ahmed, a lively and determined civil engineer, was cherished by the children for his playful personality and generosity.
