Fresh blasts were heard across Gulf cities including Dubai, Doha, and Manama this morning, following a day of Iranian strikes. Incoming missiles were also identified over Jerusalem, prompting air raid sirens and Israeli interception efforts.

Iranian Strikes Target Gulf States and Israel

Thick black smoke rose in the south of Dubai in the UAE, with blasts also reported in Bahrain’s capital, Manama, and in Qatar. Two people were injured in Dubai after shrapnel from intercepted drones fell on two houses, according to a Dubai Media Office statement.

Dubai’s international airport, the landmark Burj Al Arab hotel, and the Palm Jumeirah Island all sustained damage. Air raid sirens and explosions were also heard in Jerusalem, with the Israeli military stating they are intercepting and striking threats.

The attacks follow a day of strikes by Iran targeting the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi, as well as military bases and civilian infrastructure across the Gulf, with the exception of Oman.

Yesterday, Iran fired 137 missiles and 209 drones at the region, according to the country’s defense ministry. Fires and smoke were visible near landmarks like The Palm and Burj Al Arab.

At Abu Dhabi’s airport, one person was killed and seven were wounded in an “incident.” Dubai and Kuwait airports were also hit. In Qatar, 65 missiles and 12 drones were launched towards the Gulf state, injuring eight people, one critically.

On the first day of strikes, smoke was seen rising from US bases in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain’s capital, Manama, home to the American navy’s Fifth Fleet, with bases also targeted in Kuwait. The oil-rich Arab monarchies are long-term American allies and host US military bases.

In Manama, Iranian attacks resulted in drones and shrapnel hitting residential buildings. Yesterday’s barrage also targeted Qatar’s Al Udeid base, the region’s largest US military base, as well as Riyadh and eastern Saudi Arabia.

Qatar Airways cancelled its full Sunday schedule of flights between Dublin and Doha, while Emirates and Etihad Airways cancelled their early morning services from Dublin Airport.
