Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, was reportedly killed in an Israeli-US airstrike, according to the Iranian Labor News Agency.
Details of the Strike
The strike targeted Ahmadinejad’s residence in Narnak, a northeastern district of Tehran, resulting in his death and the deaths of several bodyguards, the pro-regime outlet claimed. The strike likely occurred late Saturday, international media reports indicate.
Ahmadinejad’s Political Career
Prior to his presidency from 2005 to 2013, Ahmadinejad served as the governor of Ardabil Province and the mayor of Tehran. Following the completion of his two terms in office, he was appointed to the Expediency Discernment Council by then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The council is a 48-member advisory body to the Office of the Supreme Leader.
This is a developing story.
