Four injured, two critically, as crash closes south side of Brynderwyns

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 across the Brynderwyns this afternoon, with two in critical condition. The crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. today, causing significant traffic delays.

Brynderwyns Crash Injures Four

Police reported that initial assessments indicated multiple injuries, some serious. Emergency services are currently working at the scene.

Hato Hone St John responded to the incident with two helicopters, two ambulances, one rapid response unit, and two operations managers. Three patients, two critically injured and one with moderate injuries, are being airlifted to Auckland City Hospital.

An additional patient, also with moderate injuries, is being transported by road to Auckland City Hospital.

Traffic is being diverted to manage the disruption. Southbound traffic is being directed through Waipu, while northbound traffic is being diverted down State Highway 12 towards Dargaville.

Earlier today, a reporter on the scene noted that southbound traffic was backed up for more than 5 kilometers. The serious crash unit has been notified and is investigating.
