Gardaí have seized cannabis plants and herb with a total estimated value of €2.25 million from growhouses in County Westmeath.

Searches were conducted at two residential properties in Ballynagore, Co Westmeath, on New Year’s Eve. The searches resulted in the seizure of cannabis plants worth an estimated €500,000 and cannabis herb valued at €1.75 million.

The operation involved personnel from the Westmeath Community Engagement Area, Divisional Drugs Unit, Mullingar Crime Unit, and the Regional Support Unit. Both properties have been preserved for technical examination, which has been completed.
The seized drugs will undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland. Gardaí have stated that investigations are ongoing.
