A road charge system will be trialed on the Genting Highlands road network beginning April 2, 2026, at the Genting Sempah and Gohtong Jaya roundabout entry points. During the trial period, no road charge will be imposed, but road users will be required to tap their payment cards.

Trial Period Details

Lingkaran Cekap (LCSB), the operator of the Genting Highlands road network, stated that permitted road users must tap their Touch ‘n Go cards, debit cards, or credit cards when passing through the toll gantry. All existing rules and regulations for using Genting roads will remain in effect, along with any additional requirements introduced during the trial.

LCSB stated the trial is intended to test the functionality of the road charge system before its full implementation, supporting their commitment to safe and reliable passage to Resorts World Genting and the surrounding area.

Exemptions for Public Servants

Exemptions from the road charge will be granted to authorized public servants (APS) and personnel of recognized agencies and institutions. Eligible applicants can register one Class 1 vehicle for exemption, provided they are currently employed by one of the listed organizations:

  • SK Sri Layang
  • SMK Sri Layang
  • Institut Amiruddin Baki
  • Balai Polis Genting Highlands
  • Balai Polis Gohtong Jaya
  • Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Genting Highlands
  • Klinik Desa Sri Layang
  • Pejabat Daerah Kecil Genting Highlands
  • Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah Bentong

  • Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan (SUK) Negeri Pahang (Cawangan Genting Highlands), and
  • Any other government institution located in Genting Highlands identified by the state government.

Registered vehicles eligible for exemption must use designated lanes for license plate recognition (LPR) at the road charge stations.

Genting Malaysia Berhad will soon impose charges on vehicles entering Jalan Genting Highlands, as confirmed by Resorts World Genting in November 2025. The Pahang government expressed hope on November 17, 2025, that these charges would consider the needs of local residents.
