The Guardian newspaper chose Norwegian Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, as the best football player in the world in 2023, while Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid player, came in second place, and Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, came in seventh place.
Every year, the newspaper prepares a list of the 100 best players in the world based on the votes of 218 people, including former footballers such as Philipp Lahm and Karen Carney.
Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain player, is ranked third, followed by Englishman Harry Kane, Bayern Munich player, fourth, and Spanish Rodri, Manchester City player, fifth.
Brazilian Vinicius, the Real Madrid player, ranked sixth, followed by Egyptian Mohamed Salah seventh, then Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City player, eighth, and then Nigerian Victor Osimhen, Naples player, ranked ninth.
Argentine Lionel Messi, the American Inter Miami player, came in tenth place.
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Al-Nasr player, ranked 27th.
