Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, a Manchester City player, was crowned the best player in the world at the Globe Soccer Awards.
This came after his historic season with Manchester City last season by winning the treble, in addition to being crowned the Premier League’s top scorer and breaking the record as the top scorer in one season in the tournament.
Haaland said after receiving the award: “Manchester City is a great club. I enjoy being here, and I hope to return quickly from the injury. I am bored of not playing.”
Khaldoun Al Mubarak, President of Manchester City, was also crowned the Best Club President Award in 2023, after the historic treble that his club won last season.
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Al-Nasr striker, also won another award at the ceremony after being honored with the Best Player in the Middle East Award, by being crowned the Best Player Award by popular vote in 2023.
