Construction and conservation efforts are underway at Kuta Beach in Bali, impacting tourists visiting the popular resort area. The work aims to address coastal erosion and improve facilities for both visitors and the local community.

Coastal Conservation Efforts Underway

Kuta Beach has been significantly affected by coastal abrasion, with erosion occurring year after year. Intensive efforts are now being implemented to protect the beach for future generations.

Tourists visiting Kuta Beach in the coming weeks can expect to see construction and conservation work, including sand refilling, which may involve noise and heavy machinery. The Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) and the Badung Regency Government are currently carrying out the sand refilling work.

Commitment to Kuta’s Improvement

The Regent of Badung, Wayan Adi Arnawa, has expressed a commitment to improving and protecting Kuta Beach. He highlighted the beach’s renowned surfing waves, ranking among the top five in the world, and its importance to international tourism.

“I want to restore Kuta’s glory, maintain its authenticity and tourist comfort, while ensuring the economic benefits benefit the local community,” Arnawa said.

Pavement and Vendor Improvements

Work is also being done to repair approximately 100 meters of damaged pavement between Hardrock Kuta and Beachwalk Shopping Center, according to Acting Head of the Badung Public Works and Public Housing Agency, Anak Agung Rama Putra.

“We hope this maintenance will provide a sense of security and comfort for visitors, both international and domestic, who want to visit the Samigita Beach area,” Putra explained. Samigita Beach refers to the coastline stretching from Kuta Beach to Seminyak Beach.

Efforts are also being made to better organize businesses and services for tourists. The Kuta Sub-district Secretary, Made Agus Suantara, announced changes to the setup of vendors and kiosks on Kuta Beach, in collaboration with the Badung Regency Government and the Kuta Traditional Village.

All vendors will be Kuta residents registered with the traditional village, and all operations will require licensing to prevent scams targeting tourists. Suantara stated, “Our hope is that in the future, Kuta Beach can become a quality, comfortable, sustainable, and beautiful tourist destination.”

Kuta Beach remains a popular destination, offering family-friendly hotels such as Hard Rock Hotel, Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, and Best Western Kuta Villa. It serves as a convenient starting point for exploring Bali, with easy access to cultural attractions like Ubud.
