The sisters of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have ended a sit-in protest outside Adiala Jail and are heading to Islamabad to participate in a rally, as concerns grow over his confinement and blocked jail visits. The protests follow a police baton charge against demonstrators outside the jail.
Imran Khan’s Sisters Protest Confinement
Imran Khan’s sisters initiated a sit-in at Adiala Jail to protest the denial of court-ordered meetings with the former prime minister. However, they have now departed for Islamabad to join a larger protest rally.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has condemned the police action against protesters outside Adiala Jail, labeling it as an attack on peaceful demonstration.
PTI senators have filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court challenging Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi’s, solitary confinement and the ban on visitors. The petition seeks to address the restrictions placed upon them.
Supporters are demanding the immediate release of Imran Khan, with slogans like “Time To Free Imran” being voiced during demonstrations.
The situation remains fluid as the protest rally in Islamabad is expected to draw significant crowds and further escalate tensions.
