Isha Keskar Addresses Serial Exits and Industry Standards
Marathi actress Isha Keskar has spoken out regarding her decision to depart from popular television projects, including the recently concluded Star Pravah series, Lakshmichya Pavlanni. Her exit from the show, which was a top performer in terms of TRP, was followed by the series being pulled off-air within a month. In a recent interview with Rajshri Marathi, Keskar clarified the reasons behind her professional choices, citing the toll that long-term television commitments take on an artist’s physical and mental health.

The Physical and Mental Toll of Television Production
Keskar explained that while she prioritizes her diet, sleep, and fitness, the nature of television production often makes it difficult to maintain health. She noted that shooting schedules frequently span 14 to 16 hours a day, which she described as unsustainable.
I felt that I am not made for this,
Keskar stated, adding that she had been warned by senior artists that while the television industry is welcoming and lucrative, it demands a significant personal cost. During her time on Lakshmichya Pavlanni, she reached a point where she could no longer balance the intense workload with her well-being.
Specific health issues eventually forced her hand. She recounted developing a boil on her eye that required significant rest, including ten hours of sleep and strictly monitored hydration, to heal. She noted that unlike a previous project where a parallel lead actress helped distribute the workload, the pressure in her latest role fell almost entirely on her. Ultimately, she decided that stepping away was better than allowing her health or the production to suffer further.

Professional Boundaries and Script Requirements
Beyond her reasons for leaving series, Keskar addressed the issue of bold or intimate scenes in acting. She expressed a pragmatic view, stating that if a script requires a bold, bikini, or even a nude scene to serve the narrative, an actor should be willing to perform it.
If the point of your role requires removing clothes, then an artist must do it,
she said. However, she drew a firm line regarding the justification of such scenes. She recalled a project where she was asked to appear in a swimming pool despite the role having no narrative depth, describing the request as objectification.
If you are asking me to do such scenes without reason, I will not even stand at your doorstep,
Keskar remarked. She emphasized that she requires clear answers regarding the necessity of a scene before committing to it, noting that she would not have been as questioning early in her career, but now demands professional justification.
Managing Public Perception
Keskar acknowledged that her history of leaving shows has created a specific reputation for her, leading to criticism from both the audience and some peers. She expressed disappointment that her desire for self-care is sometimes met with taunts.
It has become a situation where people say 'Isha leaves serials,'
she noted. Despite this, she maintains that she has always given her work 100 to 200 percent and remains grateful for the love she has received from viewers.

Summary of Key Points

* Workload Concerns: She cited the 14-16 hour daily shooting schedules as a primary driver for her burnout.
* Artistic Integrity: She supports bold, intimate, or nude scenes only if they are essential to the story, rejecting objectification
or scenes without narrative purpose.
* Personal Status: Keskar has been in a live-in relationship with actor Rishi Saxena for nine years and has expressed no desire to marry or take on the traditional role of a daughter-in-law.
