/ The official Syrian media reported that Israel launched an air attack on the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus, early on Saturday morning.
The Syrian news agency SANA, quoting a military source, said that at around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Israel carried out “an air attack in the direction of the Syrian Golan, targeting some points around the city of Damascus.”
The source added, “Our air defense forces responded to the aggression’s missiles and shot down most of them, and the losses were limited to material losses.”
For his part, the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman, told Agence France-Presse that the Israeli air force bombed “Hezbollah targets” in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood, south of Damascus.
He added that ambulances rushed to the scene after the strikes.
In response to a question from Agence France-Presse, the Israeli army did not comment on this information.
The Israeli air attack comes one day after renewed violence in the Gaza Strip, following a full week of temporary humanitarian truce.
