Latvia values cooperation with Switzerland in science and innovation

RIGA – Latvian Ambassador to Switzerland Ingrida Levrence presented her letter of credence to President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin in Bern on Tuesday, formalizing her accreditation.

Latvia-Switzerland Relations

During the accreditation ceremony and subsequent conversations, Ambassador Levrence highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between Latvia and Switzerland, expressing a desire to continue active political dialogue. She also emphasized the importance of cooperation in science and innovation, particularly within the medical technology sector.

Discussions between the officials covered the close relationship between Switzerland and the European Union, Latvia’s priorities during its term on the UN Security Council, and Switzerland’s OSCE chairpersonship.

Ambassador Levrence offered condolences regarding the tragic events at the Crans-Montana resort and extended Latvia’s readiness to provide medical assistance to those injured.

While in Switzerland, Ambassador Levrence met with representatives from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Switzerland. She also attended a New Year’s reception hosted by the President of the Swiss Confederation.

Ambassador Levrence is based in Vienna, having taken up her duties there on September 17, 2025, succeeding Ambassador Guna Japina, who had represented Latvia’s interests in Austria since 2021.
