Latvia’s labor market saw 19,200 job vacancies in the third quarter of 2025, according to data released December 9th by the Central Statistical Bureau. The number of vacant jobs decreased by 16.1% year-on-year, while the number of occupied posts increased slightly.

Latvian Job Vacancies in Q3 2025

A total of 19.2 thousand job vacancies were recorded in Latvia during the third quarter of 2025. Of these, 10.8 thousand were in the private sector and 8.4 thousand were in the public sector.

Overall, 2.1% of all positions (occupied and vacant) were vacant. The public sector had a vacancy rate of 2.8%, while the private sector’s rate was 1.8%.

  • The year-on-year number of vacant jobs decreased by 3.7 thousand, or 16.1%.
  • The total number of occupied posts in Q3 2025 was 888.5 thousand, an increase of 0.3% year-on-year.
  • The largest share of vacancies was for technicians and associate professionals (3.8%).

Regional and Occupational Breakdown

The largest number of vacant jobs were found in Riga, accounting for 2.8% of positions or 13.6 thousand vacancies. The fewest vacancies were recorded in Latgale, at 1.1% or 0.7 thousand positions.

Zemgale region had 1.4% of jobs vacant (0.9 thousand positions), while Vidzeme and Kurzeme each had a vacancy rate of 1.2% (1.0 thousand positions).

By occupational group, the highest demand was for technicians and associate professionals (3.8%), followed by craft and related trades workers (2.9%), and elementary occupations (2.2%).
