A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Porirua, New Zealand, last week that prompted a school lockdown and sent one person to the hospital.

Police responded to reports of gunshots on Dido Pl in Cannons Creek around 7:40 a.m. on Friday, February 20.
A person was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. Porirua College initiated a lockdown procedure, advising students and staff not already on campus to remain at home.
The arrested man is scheduled to appear in Porirua District Court, facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm with a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Kāpiti Mana Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins stated that police are not seeking any additional suspects in relation to the incident.
