US President Donald Trump described a recent phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “very good,” highlighting their personal friendship and ongoing diplomatic cooperation.

Speaking on Thursday in response to a question from ANI, Trump praised the Indian leader. “I had a very good talk with him and he’s a friend of mine from India and he’s doing great,” Trump said.

The conversation took place on Tuesday. During the call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the current situation in West Asia.

Strategic Cooperation and the Trump and PM Modi Phone Call

Prime Minister Modi shared on X that the leaders reviewed substantial progress achieved in various sectors of bilateral cooperation. He emphasized a continued commitment to strengthening their Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in all areas.

The discussion also addressed regional security in West Asia. Both leaders stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.

According to US ambassador to India Sergio Gor, the call concluded with Trump telling the Prime Minister, “I just want you to know we all love you.”

This marked the third phone conversation between the two leaders this year and the first following recent peace talks between the US and Iran.

Previous discussions occurred on February 2 to announce progress on a trade deal and on March 24 to discuss the situation in West Asia.
