/ The White House warned on Monday that no more weapons and equipment would be delivered to Ukraine if Congress did not vote before the end of the year on new funding.
“To be clear, if Congress does not act by the end of the year, we will run out of resources to deliver more weapons and equipment to Ukraine, and provide equipment from US military stockpiles,” White House Budget Director Shalanda Young wrote, according to AFP. Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.
“There is no magic funding available to address an emergency,” she warned. “We are running out of money, and time is running out quickly.”
This concerns exceptional assistance worth more than $100 billion that Democratic President Joe Biden requested from Congress on October 20 to meet the urgent needs at the present time, that is, to help Israel and Ukraine, stand up to China, and respond to the arrival of migrants at the southern border.
The budget director asserts in this letter that “cutting off the flow of US weapons and equipment supplies would paralyze Ukraine on the battlefield, which would jeopardize the progress Ukraine has made, and increase the chances of Russia achieving victories.”
She continued: “Our supplies of military assistance have basically declined.”
The United States has provided tens of billions of dollars in aid since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and has repeatedly pledged to support Kiev as long as necessary, but this promise is being undermined by the growing opposition from some Republican lawmakers.
