Mount Dukono erupts in Indonesia’s North Maluku, ash column reaches 900 meters-Xinhua

Mount Dukono in Indonesia’s North Maluku province erupted Tuesday morning, sending a column of volcanic ash 900 meters above its peak.

Mount Dukono Eruption Details

The eruption occurred at 06:48 a.m. local time. The ash plume reached approximately 1,987 meters above sea level and drifted eastward with thick white-to-gray emissions.

The event was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 30 mm and a duration of 48.54 seconds, accompanied by a moderate explosion sound, according to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.

Authorities have advised residents and visitors to refrain from activities, climbing, or approaching the Malupang Warirang crater within a 4-km radius.
