A man has been arrested after a “serious assault” in Auckland’s CBD left one person in critical condition and another in serious condition. Police recovered a knife at the scene.
Auckland CBD Assault: Man Arrested
Police were called to Lorne St, outside Auckland’s Central City Library, at around 10:20 p.m. on Friday.
St John Ambulance responded with two ambulances, a rapid response unit, and a manager. Crews assessed and treated two patients, one in critical condition and one in serious condition, before transporting them to Auckland City Hospital, according to a St John spokesperson.
A 65-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He appeared in the Auckland District Court today on two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was granted interim name suppression.
Cordons were in place this morning, and a scene examination is being carried out.
