Philippines’ UN Security Council Bid
Marcos met with Guterres on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, discussing the Philippines’ candidacy and various areas of cooperation. The President emphasized the country’s commitment to the UN’s principles and its contributions to peacekeeping and international security.
In his address to the General Assembly, Marcos underscored the Philippines’ dedication to multilateralism and its willingness to contribute to global efforts in addressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and conflict. He also advocated for education and economic opportunities for women, recognizing their crucial role in national development.
The Palace has stated that Marcos is in good health after appearing to have a cold during his speech at the UN.
The Philippines is vying for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term.
