Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the progress of a planned Hajj village in Mecca during a phone call on December 10, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Hajj Village Project Discussed

Prabowo initiated the call to MBS, who also serves as Saudi Arabia’s prime minister, while the President was visiting Moscow, Russia. The conversation focused on “the location, the construction process, and the facilities to be prepared for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims,” Wijaya said.

The Saudi Press Agency reported the two leaders also discussed ways to support cooperation between their countries.

MBS extended condolences to Prabowo and the Indonesian people affected by recent flash floods and landslides in Sumatra, stating, “Indonesia is a great country, and its leader is a strong President who can face any situation.”

Saudi Arabia has expressed support for Prabowo’s Hajj Village plan. Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara is currently participating in an auction for land allocated for the project, with the targeted land located in Eastern Hindawiyah.

Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani stated on December 2 that his organization is among the top three bidders, and a winner is expected to be announced in mid-December 2025. “Hopefully, the hope of establishing this Hajj village will come true, and we can build it,” Roeslani added.
