Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received the Republic of Korea’s highest honor, the Grand Order of Mugunghwa, during a Friendship Event in Seoul on Wednesday.

The award was presented by the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung, at the Garden of Sangchungjae at the Presidential Palace.
The Grand Order of Mugunghwa is the Republic of Korea’s highest national award. It is given to the President of the Republic of Korea and their spouse, as well as heads of state or former heads of state of friendly countries and their spouses.
The honor recognizes outstanding services in supporting the development and security of the Republic of Korea. President Prabowo received the award for his contributions to enhancing bilateral relations, specifically elevating the partnership to a Special Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The award includes a badge in the form of a ribbon, collar, star, and lapel badge, all crafted from precious metals and adorned with gemstones.
Since its inception in 1949, the Grand Order of Mugunghwa has been bestowed upon over 100 individuals, both domestic and international.
Past recipients include Syngman Rhee, the first President of the Republic of Korea (1949); King Hussein of Jordan (1983); Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (1986); Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (2007); President of France Emmanuel Macron (2018); and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (2003).
The award underscores the strong friendship and strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, which continues to expand and benefit both countries and the region.
