ProbablyMonsters Sets Crimson Moon Release Date for September 1, 2026

Players step into the role of a Nephilim, described by Gematsu as a half-human, half-angel hybrid forged to defend humanity from hell using supernatural powers, weapons, and melee combat abilities. The game tasks players with reclaiming the fallen city of Gildenarch from demonic corruption, battling through an ever-evolving horde of demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth abominations, as detailed by PlayStation and Gematsu.

Editions and Pricing

According to Gematsu, Insider Gaming will be released in two distinct tiers to maintain an approachable price point for players:

• Standard Edition ($19.99): Includes a copy of the base game, according to Gematsu.
• Deluxe Edition ($29.99): Includes a copy of the game, a post-launch content expansion, the “Ceremonial Armor Set” downloadable content, and the “Axe of the Gods” guitar-shaped axe weapon cosmetic, as outlined by Gematsu and PlayStation.

Additionally, PlayStation reported that Standard Edition owners can upgrade later using the Crimson Moon Deluxe Edition Upgrade for $10. PlayStation players on both editions will receive the exclusive Sonai Magistrate Armor Set at launch, and PlayStation 5 Pro users can take advantage of native support for upgraded PSSR for a sharper image, as confirmed by Insider Gaming.

Gameplay, Co-Op, and Boss Encounters

The title offers both solo play and a two-player online cooperative mode, where players share a communal life pool and have the ability to revive fallen teammates, with every hunt dynamically scaling to maintain consistent challenge, according to PlayStation and Gematsu. Game Informer notes that players who fight through all three districts of Gildenarch in a row will face three world bosses, leading up to an extremely difficult final boss designed to test player mastery.

Soundtrack Collaborations

According to NME, the game’s soundtrack was composed by Chris Wilson and ProbablyMonsters music manager Steve Pardo. The team also collaborated with industrial band HEALTH, Ice Nine Kills member Ricky Armellino, Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor, and metal YouTuber Jared Dines to produce four original tracks specifically for the boss fights.
