KAI Commuter will operate 1,065 daily trips on the Greater Jakarta and Yogyakarta Commuter Lines during the upcoming Ramadan month, with no changes to existing schedules. Passengers are permitted to break their fast on trains and at stations, with requests to consume food and drinks in moderation.
Ramadan Commuter Service Details
Vice President Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that trips will be available daily from 04:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Jakarta time. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line will run 70 trips daily, while the Merak Commuter Line will operate 14 trips each day.
The Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line will continue with 27 trips, and the Prameks Commuter Line will offer 10 daily trips throughout Ramadan.
Breaking Fast Guidelines
Passengers are welcome to break their fast, or iftar, inside the trains and at stations. However, KAI Commuter requests passengers consume light snacks and drinks in moderation and avoid strong-smelling foods or beverages for the comfort of others.
KAI Commuter staff will announce iftar times on trains and at stations. Free drinking water will be available via water stations, encouraging passengers to bring their own water bottles.
LRT Jabodebek Ramadan Service
Similar rules apply to LRT Jabodebek services, allowing passengers to break their fast until 7:00 p.m. on board and at stations. Passengers are permitted light food and drinks, such as dates, bread, and water, but heavy meals and strong-smelling foods are discouraged.
LRT Jabodebek also provides free drinking water at its stations and encourages passengers to dispose of waste in provided bins.
Ramadan Start Date
The Indonesian government announced that Ramadan will begin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following a deliberation meeting led by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar.
