Emergency services are searching for a person missing in the water near Thames, New Zealand this morning. Authorities were alerted after receiving reports of two people in difficulty at the Waikawau boat ramp off Thames Coast Rd.
Search Underway for Missing Person Near Thames
Police responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m. after receiving the initial reports. One of the individuals involved was able to reach shore safely and immediately notified emergency services about the second person still in the water.
A comprehensive search operation is currently underway, involving multiple agencies. These include Police, the Eagle helicopter, Coastguard Howick, Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol, and Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
As of now, the second person has not been located, and search efforts are continuing.
