Jean-Claude Cecchin was reported missing by his wife early Sunday afternoon. The man, who has been diagnosed with a moderate stage of Alzheimer’s disease, left his residence on the route de Béziers without a mobile phone or any means of payment. At the time he was last seen, he was wearing a light gray t-shirt, dark gray shorts, and sandals.

Authorities emphasized the urgency of the situation due to the high temperatures and the man’s medical condition, which likely leaves him disoriented. He has no known friends or family in the immediate area, and the direction he took upon leaving his home remains unknown.

The gendarmerie company of Béziers initiated a significant search effort immediately after receiving the alert. The rescue mission included the mobilization of an Hérault departmental helicopter to survey the area from the air. On the ground, military personnel assisted by a tracking dog conducted a search of the sector throughout the afternoon.
