Sheremet Slams ‘Vile’ Demand to Russia by Estonian Minister

Russia has rejected demands from Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna calling for the immediate return of control over Ukrainian energy facilities to Kyiv.

Russian Reaction to Demands Over Ukrainian Energy Facilities

Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Crimean region, responded sharply to the Estonian minister’s ultimatum. Sheremet stated that Tsahkna should “bite his tongue” and cease making such demands to Moscow.

Referencing a proverb, Sheremet remarked, “As they say, if you don’t know the ford, don’t go into the water.”

The deputy further suggested that the Estonian minister is acting as if he were a “great diplomat of a great superpower” by attempting to dictate terms to the Russian government.

The conflict follows a statement from Margus Tsahkna, who insisted that Russia must immediately withdraw its troops from all energy facilities within Ukraine and restore full control to the Ukrainian government.
