PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk hosted the BTN Run for Disabilities, Run for Inclusivity, alongside Paralympic athletes at Manahan Stadium in Solo on February 7, 2026. The event, attended by prominent figures including the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, underscored the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and ESG principles.
BTN Run for Disabilities Promotes Inclusivity
The BTN Run for Disabilities is part of the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (BTN Jakim) 2026 series and reinforces the company’s dedication to being an inclusive bank, according to bank officials.
BTN Risk Management Director Setiyo Wibowo stated that the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are integral to its business processes, extending beyond Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“Running is an inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, including people with disabilities. Similarly, through running, BTN is committed to being an inclusive bank that is there for everyone, in line with ESG principles,” said Setiyo.
BTN’s commitment to inclusivity extends to financial services accessible to all levels of society, as well as support for sports, health, and the empowerment of people with disabilities.
“Through Run for Disabilities, Run for Inclusivity as part of Road to BTN Jakim, we want to emphasize BTN’s role, which is not only focused on housing financing, but also consistently promotes health, inclusivity, and the welfare of the Indonesian people,” Setiyo added.
During the event, BTN donated facilities and infrastructure to support Paralympic athletes and announced plans to involve 10 disabled runners in BTN Jakim, alongside a fundraising campaign involving tens of thousands of participants.
Raising Awareness and Promoting Physical Activity
Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin highlighted the importance of physical activity, noting that a lack of it is among the top five causes of disease in Indonesia. He emphasized running’s accessibility and health benefits.
“Lack of physical activity ranks among the top five causes of disease in Indonesia. And running is the most inclusive, affordable, and healthy sport because all you need is a pair of shoes. Our friends with disabilities have proven they can do it, so why can’t we who are healthy?” said Budi.
Mayor of Surakarta Respati Ardi praised BTN’s initiative to include people with disabilities in the national running event, emphasizing the need for systemic support for athletes with disabilities.
“We realize the importance of systemic support for athletes with disabilities, from services and environment to their future after their athletic careers. We are grateful to BTN because through BTN Jakim, our friends with disabilities are truly involved. We hope this activity continues to create opportunities to strengthen Solo’s role as an inclusive city,” said Respati.
Deputy Secretary General of NPC Indonesia Rima Febianto noted the event’s success in raising public awareness of sports for people with disabilities and creating opportunities for their development.
“We appreciate BTN for its initiative and support, which is very important for building a sustainable sports ecosystem for people with disabilities,” concluded Rima.
