A man has died after falling from a seventh-floor balcony in Sydney, Australia, while police were at the scene. The incident occurred following reports of a domestic and family violence-related incident.

Man Dies After Fall From Sydney Balcony

The tragedy unfolded at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, when police responded to a unit complex on Hamilton Road in Fairfield after receiving a call from a female resident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 55-year-old man positioned on the railing of a seventh-floor balcony. While officers were communicating with the man, he fell to the ground.

NSW Ambulance paramedics provided immediate medical attention for critical head injuries, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

A 46-year-old woman, who was inside the unit, was evaluated by paramedics for shock and minor injuries.

A critical incident investigation has been launched by Auburn Police Area Command to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The investigation will be independently reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
