Tributes have been paid to a dedicated nurse from Co. Sligo, Nycin Thomas, who passed away peacefully on Thursday at North West Hospice, surrounded by her family after an illness. Thomas, originally from Kerala in India, had been living in Ballisodare for a number of years and is remembered as a wonderful woman, great mother, and lovely friend.
Nycin Thomas Remembered by Colleagues and Friends
Nycin is survived by her husband, Albin Sratel, and two children, Nathan and Thomas. A death notice shared on RIP.ie stated she will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, colleagues at Sligo University Hospital, relatives, neighbours and friends.
She was a member of the nursing staff at the dialysis unit in Sligo University Hospital, where she made a significant impression on those she cared for and worked with.
The Irish Kidney Association Sligo branch shared a message on social media expressing their sadness at her passing. They noted that members and dialysis patients were deeply saddened to learn of the death of the former nurse, who was dedicated to her work and fondly remembered by her patients.
A fellow nurse at Sligo University Hospital expressed sincere condolences to Nycinβs family, stating she would be greatly missed by all her colleagues.
Friends and family have also shared heartfelt tributes. One family friend described Nycin as having a beautiful smile, kindness, and a positive spirit, adding she will be deeply missed. Another close friend remembered her as a wonderful woman and a lovely friend, expressing how much her calls and playdates with their children will be missed.
Mourners described Nycin as a beautiful wife and mother, wishing her eternal peace.
Nycin will lie in repose at SeΓ‘n Feehilyβs Funeral Home at Cartron Cross, Sligo (F91EH98) on Sunday from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 2pm in Saint Brigidβs Church, Corhownagh, Ballisodare.
