Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin challenged the BJP, asserting that the state will remain resistant to the party’s influence, even if it attempts to gain power through an alliance with the AIADMK. Stalin addressed a large gathering at the DMK’s 12th State conference in Siruganur on Monday.

‘Saffron Brigade’ Will Not Color Tamil Nadu

“They can paint any State in saffron, but not Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said, directly confronting the BJP. He stated that the BJP would not be able to rule Tamil Nadu “whatever mask you may wear or agencies you threaten us with.”

‘We will expose you’

Stalin framed the upcoming 2026 Assembly election as a contest between Tamil Nadu and Delhi, emphasizing the DMK’s role as the primary defender of Tamil Nadu’s interests, language, and culture. He accused the BJP of attempting to undermine the AIADMK, similar to its tactics in Bihar, and vowed to expose any such efforts.

‘Seven-point vision achieved’

Stalin highlighted the achievements of his government over the past five years, claiming to have successfully implemented a seven-point vision for the state’s development. Despite facing various challenges, he asserted that Tamil Nadu has experienced growth under his leadership.

He contrasted his government’s performance with that of the previous AIADMK administration, citing a significant increase in Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for industrial investment – 1,190 MoUs signed under his government compared to 471 during the AIADMK’s tenure. Total investments attracted to the state rose from ₹4,13,414 crore to ₹12,54,133 crore during the same period.

In the agricultural sector, the area under cultivation increased from 57.26 lakh hectares to 62.32 lakh hectares. The number of beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme increased from 49 lakh to 90 lakh, with an increased income ceiling. Stalin reported an economic growth rate of 11.19% for Tamil Nadu, a figure not seen in 14 years.

Stalin criticized opposition parties for adopting schemes implemented by the DMK, stating that no party could halt the progress of his government’s initiatives, such as Mahalir Urimair Thogai and Vidiyal Payanam.

He further accused the central government of neglecting Tamil Nadu, denying funds requested for education, the Jal Jeevan Mission, the rural job scheme, and disaster relief. He questioned the BJP’s right to seek votes in Tamil Nadu given this perceived neglect.

‘A grand finish’

Drawing a parallel to cricket, Stalin urged party members to maintain momentum and secure a decisive victory in the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of a strong finish.
