The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed today, Wednesday, that the disagreement in the draft budget for 2021 is still over the article regarding the Kurdistan region’s share, noting that the provincial councils have caused the waste of the regions’ development budgets.
Committee member Representative Mahasin Hamdoun said to the “Al-Ashra” program, which is shown on the Iraqi News Channel, followed by the (INA), that “the budget dispute is over Article 11 regarding the region’s share,” pointing out that “the Iraqi Forces Alliance agrees on the region’s share, while The Shiite forces reject it.”
Regarding the governorate projects, Hamdoun explained, “The governorate councils had a major role in the corruption in the governorates, as they caused the waste of the regions’ development budgets because it is within their jurisdiction.”
She continued, “There is no justice in distributing projects between the governorates,” indicating that “the ministries have not succeeded in completing strategic projects.”
