A funeral ceremony was held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Thursday afternoon, for the deputy head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, the martyrs Saleh Al-Arouri, and the leaders of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Azzam Al-Aqra’ and Muhammad Al-Rayes, who were assassinated by a Zionist bombing last Tuesday.

During the funeral ceremony, a speech was read by the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in which he said, “Palestine and Lebanon bid farewell today, along with the people of the nation, to strong men who fought battles in all fields and directions.”
He added, “The martyr Al-Arouri carried the trust and raised the banner as a leader in our jihadist movement and at the head of the leadership of the West Bank, where he charted strategic paths. The West Bank faces multiple challenges from the enemy and from near and far, and he succeeded in resuming resistance there.”
He considered, “The assassination of the martyr in the heart of the capital, Beirut, is evidence of the bloody mentality of the occupation and its approach for decades, and the policy of assassination is extended since it also affected the leadership of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, as happened with the martyr Abbas al-Moussawi.”
Haniyeh said, “This massacre will remain a witness to the bloodiness of the occupation, like the Sabra and Shatila massacre, and the enemy has been disappointed after he thought that he would be able to frustrate the people through assassination operations.”
He added, “The enemy failed to strike the spirit of resistance and impose its conditions on the negotiating table, and it will not succeed in making the movement abandon its strategy,” stressing, “We will continue on the same path, loyal to the blood of the martyrs in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and on all resistance fronts that support our people and our Gazans.”
