The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, announced today, Saturday, the start of the process of removing encroachments and sediments from the approaches to the Kiryaat Bridge.

The Ministry of Water Resources stated, in a statement received by the (INA), that “The Minister conducted a field tour to see the work of removing encroachments and mud deposits from the approaches to the new Kuryaat pedestrian bridge linking the Kuryaat and Holy Kadhimiya regions in preparation for its opening.”
The Minister of Water Resources said: “The staff of the Department of Implementation of River Dredging Works/Baghdad Site, in cooperation with the Directorate of Maintenance of Irrigation and Drainage Projects in the governorate and under the supervision of the Directorate of Water Resources in Baghdad, began removing mud deposits, rubble, and reeds from the approaches to the bridge, with an estimated quantity of 40,000 m3.”
He pointed out that “the works included removing the encroachments on the Tigris River column and the stone cladding on both banks, using specialized mechanisms with the aim of facilitating the water flow process and completing the work of the Ministry of Water Resources within the new Kiryat Bridge project.”
For his part, Director General of Al-Farouq General Company, Haider Fadel, according to the statement, praised “the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources in their cooperation with the implementing agency in overcoming difficulties and speeding up completion.”
