The rate of Iraqis buying real estate in Turkey decreased by about 69% over the past year

/ The Turkish Statistics Authority announced, on Monday, a decrease in the rate of Iraqis purchasing Turkish real estate during the past year 2023.

The authority said in a table seen by Agency, “During the past year, Iraqis purchased 1,917 properties in Turkey, a decrease of 69% compared to the same period of last year 2022, in which the purchase of real estate by Iraqis amounted to 6,241 properties.”

It indicated that “Iraqis’ purchase of real estate in Turkey for the month of December amounted to 94 properties, a decrease from the same period in 2022, which amounted to 345 properties.”

She pointed out that “the Iraqis ranked third during the past year in terms of their purchase of real estate in Turkey after the Russians, who purchased real estate at 10,560 properties, and the Iranians at 4,272 properties, then the Ukrainians came fourth with 1,720 properties, then Kazakhstan came fifth with 1,440 properties.”

Earlier, official Turkish data revealed that residential unit prices rose by about 1.9 percent since last November, recording 1,150.4 points.

Compared to the same month in 2022, the index recorded an increase of about 82.8 percent, according to data from the Central Bank of Turkey on residential unit price index data.

The price per square meter throughout Turkey is about 30,318 liras, while the price per square meter in Istanbul is 44,532 liras, in Ankara 23,291 liras, and in Izmir 35,465 liras.
