Three teenagers were arrested following a police chase that began with dangerous motorcycle riding and concluded with officers utilizing drones to track the suspects in Opossum Bay.

An 18-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys were taken into custody after allegedly attempting to evade police on motorbikes before continuing to flee on foot this afternoon.

The incident began around 3:35 p.m. when members of the public reported two motorcycles being ridden dangerously on South Arm Highway near Rokeby. The riders were heading towards South Arm.

Police responded with uniformed officers and drone resources to search the South Arm and Opossum Bay areas. The operation lasted approximately one hour, concluding at 4:35 p.m.

“The operation stemmed from an incident earlier today when police were notified by members of the public that two motorcycles were being ridden in a dangerous manner,” police said. Officers stated the trio initially attempted to escape on their motorcycles before abandoning them and fleeing on foot.

The arrests occur amid increasing community concerns regarding dangerous riding in the area. Police indicated their investigation will encompass numerous recent complaints of similar driving behavior in the Clarence area over the past week.

The use of drone technology aided officers in tracking and safely apprehending the three suspects without further incident.
