Tyrone & Down Road Deaths: 2 Young Men Killed in Collisions

Two men have died in separate road collisions in Northern Ireland over the past two days, police have reported. The incidents occurred in County Tyrone and County Down.

Cookstown Collision

A 20-year-old man, identified as Padraig McDonald from the Loughmacrory area, died following a two-car collision in Cookstown, County Tyrone, in the early hours of this morning. A teenage boy sustained life-changing injuries, and a second teenager suffered serious facial injuries in the same incident.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the collision involved a silver Volkswagen Golf and a black Volkswagen Golf shortly before 12:40 a.m. A black Vauxhall Corsa then collided with one of the vehicles involved. Five occupants of the silver Golf reported injuries at the scene. The occupants of the black Golf and black Corsa are not believed to have suffered serious injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 30 26/12/25.

Newtownards Crash

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old man, Callum McVeigh from the Crossgar area, died following a single-vehicle crash on a laneway off the Holywood Road in the Craigantlet area of Newtownards on Christmas Eve.

The collision involved a forklift. Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene, but Mr. McVeigh was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with digital footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 685 24/12/25. Enquiries are continuing.
