On Feb. 24, 2026, the United Nations General Assembly will vote on a resolution presented by Ukraine calling for a just and lasting peace grounded in international law, four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is urging all Ukrainian communities worldwide to demand their governments support the resolution.
Ukraine Resolution a Test of UN Charter
The resolution seeks to reaffirm Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, demand the return of forcibly deported civilians and abducted children, and call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire consistent with international law. The UWC asserts this vote is a direct test of whether the United Nations will defend its founding principles or allow aggression to go unanswered.
A “yes” vote would signify support for defending the UN Charter and international law, upholding Ukraine’s sovereignty, demanding the return of abducted children and unlawfully deported civilians, supporting accountability for war crimes, and rejecting aggression as a tool of state policy.
Failure to support the resolution, according to the UWC, would undermine the credibility of the United Nations and suggest international law can be violated without consequence.
“On Feb. 24, every UN Member State must decide whether the UN Charter still matters,” said UWC President Paul Grod. “Supporting Ukraine’s resolution is the minimum required to defend international law, protect abducted children, and hold Russia accountable for its crimes. A vote against Ukraine — or abstention — is a vote against justice and a green light for future aggression.”
UWC Calls for Action
The UWC is calling on Ukrainian communities and allies to directly demand their governments and UN missions vote in favor of Ukraine’s resolution. They are also urging public, on-the-record support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The organization is rejecting neutrality, abstention, or political ambiguity, stating there can be no neutral position on aggression, violation of the UN Charter, and state-sponsored terrorism and abduction of children. They are also mobilizing media, civil society, and public pressure to ensure the vote is unavoidable.
Four years of war have demonstrated the consequences of inaction, including destroyed cities, murdered civilians, abducted children, and a threatened global security order. UN Member States are expected to vote to uphold the UN Charter by supporting Ukraine’s resolution on Feb. 24, 2026.
Justice and international law demand it, and history will remember the outcome.
