/ The New York Post reported on Thursday that a former official in the administration of former US President Barack Obama was arrested after a video was circulated in which he made anti-Palestinian statements.

The police arrested Stuart Seldowitz, former deputy director of the Office of Israeli and Palestinian Affairs at the US State Department during the period between 1999 and 2003, who also worked in the US National Security Council during the era of President Obama, following the circulation of videos of him speaking with an Egyptian seller on the street. .

In his conversation with the seller, Seldowitz made insulting statements towards the seller and were hostile to Palestinians and Islam. He also said that killing 4,000 Palestinian children is not enough.

Following the circulation of her video of the former official on social media, Gotham Government Relations announced the cessation of its cooperation with Seldowitz.

The New York Post quoted the seller, Islam Mustafa, as saying that he intends to file a lawsuit against Seldowitz on charges of inciting hatred.

The story..

The story began when Seldowitz assaulted a young Egyptian man who was standing selling his livelihood in New York City. He approached him and rained down insults and racist insults on him.

He also told him that the killing of 4,000 Palestinian children in Gaza was “not enough,” referring to the unprecedented Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip. Then he took pictures of the young Arab man, describing him as “ignorant.”

He also mocked the seller because he did not speak English fluently, and accused him of working in the United States without a permit or visa, and of being a “terrorist.”

While the young man tried to dissuade him from doing what he was doing, Seldowitz continued his insult, returning to the same store over the course of several days, once at night and twice during the day, and each time he refused to leave, as documented by the video clips.

In addition, Seldowitz faces two counts of aggravated harassment and three counts of stalking, one under the city’s hate crimes law, one with the intent to incite fear and the other for doing so at the victim’s workplace, according to the New York Times.

The accused said in a telephone interview that he did not watch the video clips, and that he asked the seller if he was Egyptian, stressing that he truly regretted what he had done.

Stuart Seldowitz was fired from his position at Gotham Government Relations due to his hostile behavior, as the company said that it had “terminated all association with Stuart Seldowitz due to despicable and racist actions that contradict ethical standards,” according to the statement.

The company’s president said he was ready to represent the seller in court if he wanted to sue the former diplomat.

Duplicate accidents

It is noteworthy that the New York City Council had apologized to the Egyptian seller for the racist verbal attack by the former diplomat.

Such incidents have been repeated to a large extent recently, against the backdrop of the raging conflict between Israel and Hamas since October 7, which has put the Jewish and Palestinian Muslim communities in the United States in a state of tension and fear.

This tension has also spread to some European countries, such as France and Belgium.
