RAWALPINDI – A social media activist was detained by law enforcement officials for allegedly filming the transport of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan between a hospital and jail, according to reports Tuesday.

Detention Details

Haider Saeed was detained in the Dahgal Naka area near Adiala Jail and taken to the Adiala Police Post for questioning, sources confirmed. The detention followed an incident Monday night when Khan was moved from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) back to Adiala Jail after a medical examination.

Saeed reportedly filmed the official motorcade outside the hospital, prompting the security intervention.

Imran Khan’s Condition and Imprisonment

Khan, 73, has been incarcerated since August 2023 following convictions in multiple cases that he alleges were politically motivated after his removal from office in 2022.

He received a second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection at PIMS Hospital on Monday to treat a diagnosed eye condition. A report submitted to the Supreme Court indicated Khan has only 15% vision remaining in his right eye due to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). The government maintains that Khan is receiving the best possible medical care.

Khan is expected to receive another eye injection in the coming weeks.
