Singapore’s national water agency has urged the public to avoid three areas in the vicinity of Bukit Timah on Wednesday due to the risk of flash floods.
Flash Flood Risk in Bukit Timah Area
The areas to avoid are Dunearn Road from Rifle Range to Binjai Park, the junction of King’s Road and Prince Road, and Mackenzie Road near Bukit Timah Road.
PUB issued the alert around 6 p.m. local time, citing heavy rainfall, and advised the public to avoid these areas for the next hour. The National Environment Agency had also warned of heavy rain in the southern and western areas of the island from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) also issued a warning on its website, stating that “heavy thundery showers” were expected during the same period.
This alert follows flash floods that occurred in Kembangan and Upper East Coast Road on Tuesday afternoon amid heavy rain across Singapore. MSS had previously reported that thundery showers can be expected in the afternoons for the first half of December, with moderate to heavy rain potentially extending into the evenings on some days.
