Dublin Expansion and Facility Growth at Baldonnel, Rathcoole, and Ballycoolin
Amazon’s latest recruitment drive aims to fill over 200 newly created jobs across its frontline logistics network in Dublin. According to the company, these positions are spread across the main distribution warehouse in Baldonnel, west Dublin, alongside two delivery stations situated in Rathcoole and Ballycoolin in the northwest of the city.
This hiring push expands the workforce at the Baldonnel fulfillment centre up to 700 employees. The site officially opened in 2022 with the creation of 500 jobs. Overall, Amazon’s total employee count in Ireland now stands at approximately 6,500 people, supporting faster delivery times and a wider selection for customers across the country.
Pay Increase and Total Compensation Package Details
Alongside the job creation announcement, Amazon confirmed that the minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees in Ireland will increase by €0.65 per hour, bringing the new rate to €17.10 per hour starting September 27th. This new hourly rate translates to a starting annual salary of €35,568, sitting €2.95 above the national minimum wage and €1.70 above the living wage.

said Darragh Kelly, Amazon’s Regional Director for Logistics in UK and Ireland. Mr Kelly also noted that starting pay in Ireland has increased by approximately 27% since 2022,
moving from €13.50 to €17.10 per hour.
In addition to hourly wage growth, Amazon is introducing a free Amazon Prime membership valued at just under €70 annually for all eligible frontline employees in Ireland. This benefit includes unlimited free deliveries, access to Prime Video, and exclusive deals. According to company statements, other existing benefits include a pension plan, employee discounts, flexible shift options, a three-year tenure pay rise, and a “career choice programme” covering tuition fees for nationally recognised education courses.
Context of Recent Corporate Restructuring and Redundancies
The new hiring initiative and wage enhancements arrive following a period of corporate downsizing for the ecommerce giant in the region. In January, approximately 300 jobs in Ireland were put under threat as part of broader global job cuts. That action followed a previous round of global redundancies in October, which resulted in about 150 job cuts locally in Ireland.
Despite those earlier reductions, the addition of 200 new roles reinforces the company’s operational footprint in Dublin’s logistics sector.
