A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Singapore after allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint in Jurong West. The incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 18, and the suspect was apprehended the following morning.
Armed Robbery in Jurong West
Police were alerted to the armed robbery along Jurong West Street 93 at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Dec. 18, according to a police statement released on Dec. 19.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager allegedly threatened the victim with a karambit knife and demanded the victim’s mobile phone and a gold ring.
Following the investigation, police established the teenager’s identity and arrested him. A mobile phone, gold ring, and the karambit knife were seized as evidence.
The teenager is expected to be charged on Dec. 20 with robbery, which carries a potential sentence of five to 20 years in jail and at least 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.
Police stated they “will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.”
Members of the public who encounter similar incidents are advised to remain calm, observe the perpetrator’s appearance, and immediately contact the police.
