Investigators are facing challenges in the investigation into the death of Dueñas Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan after her family declined to allow an autopsy and refused to comment on the case.
Aimee Paz Lamasan Death Investigation Stalled
The family of Lamasan has also declined to comment on their decision to refuse the autopsy, according to reports. Lamasan died on January 1 after being shot in the stomach at her residence in La Paz, Iloilo City, reportedly while putting away a 9mm pistol.
Lamasan’s live-in partner, former Office of Civil Defense Region VIII director Lord Byron Torrecarion, has also refused to undergo a paraffin test, police said. The wake for Lamasan remains closed to the media.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been created by the Police Regional Office VI to focus on the case.
