Rescue of Kidnapped Victims in Faskari

In Faskari Local Government Area, troops of Sector 2 were conducting a fighting patrol when they intercepted and rescued nine individuals. The group, consisting of three women, four men, and two children, had been held captive by terrorists. According to the military, preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were originally abducted on July 9, 2026, along the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in the Tsafe Local Government Area of neighboring Zamfara State. The victims reported to the military that they managed to escape from the terrorists’ enclave after their captors fell asleep. They were intercepted by the patrolling troops while attempting to reach safety. The rescued victims are currently held in safe custody, where they are undergoing profiling and necessary procedures to facilitate their safe reunification with their families.

Livestock Recovery and Counter-Terrorism Operations

In a separate engagement in Bakori Local Government Area, troops acted on credible intelligence regarding an attempt by suspected terrorists to rustle livestock. Upon sighting the advancing soldiers, the suspects opened fire. The military reported that the troops utilized superior firepower to overwhelm the assailants, who subsequently fled into the surrounding bush. The operation resulted in the recovery of 56 head of livestock, specifically four cattle and 52 sheep. These animals remain in military custody pending their handover to the appropriate local authorities. Additionally, troops conducted routine operational activities in Danmusa Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of a suspected terrorist.
